Ministries
Getting Plugged In
At Southbridge, we believe in team ministry. During these early days of our existence, we have many service opportunities for you and your family. Below, you will find several of the teams that need gifted individuals to serve alongside of them.
Bridge Kids
Jon Cullen
This year The Bridge Kids ministry saw many people accept leadership and helper roles in 5 different departments. Our kids have learned about missions, heard the life changing gospel and saw it lived out in the lives of the dedicated volunteers. We have produced a family booklet, improved security, and started a new blessings ministry to families of new babies. We have grown from about 10 children to around 100! The Bridge Kids Ministry plans to continue to provide the body of Southbridge exciting outreach opportunities through volunteering. In the near future we hope to divide our classrooms again, start a puppet ministry and continue home visits to welcome new babies into our ministry. If you are interested in volunteering or have questions, then please email us at: bridgekids@southbridgefellowship.com.
Community Groups
Jason Tovey
This year Southbridge started twelve (12) Community Groups to fulfill the Lord's call for community amongst believers, on being the church, and experiencing the "one anothers" we see in Scripture. It is our hope that everyone that calls Southbridge home would find authentic community and spiritual accountability with other Southbridge family members. If you have want to join a community group, start your own community group, or have any other questions, please email us at: jtovey@southbridgefellowship.com.
Facility Committee
Bill Horton
The Southbridge Facility Team has been in the process of identifying future land sites for acquisitions to accommodate the growth and stability of Southbridge. Presently, forty-six (46) sites have been reviewed. The plan for the immediate future is to concentrate on the leasing or purchase of an existing building that can be occupied to allow a more permanent facility for the church body. The terms and conditions for six (6) locations are presently being evaluated. If you have any information that you feel would be helpful, please email us at: facilities@southbridgefellowship.com.
Finance Committee
Josh Self
The finance team has been in place and operating since the very early stages of the church last summer. We have gone from an empty back account to now managing monthly cash flow, sending regular giving summaries, and being diligent in planning for the future of the church. We have four people that have given countless hours to date to make sure Southbridge is a good steward of the Lord's money, so that we may continue to be a church of irresistible influence on the world around us. For more information, please contact us at: finances@southbridgefellowship.com.
Fellowship Team
Connie Barnes
Because Southbridge values community, the Fellowship Team was formed to help us stay connected to and caring for each other. This team plans and hosts church events such as picnics, potlucks, and outings to sporting events. In the future, we plan to host events such as the upcoming men's breakfast, women's luncheon, and a Saturday night Italian dinner for the family. For ideas, volunteers, or more information, please contact us at: fellowship@southbridgefellowship.com.
Outreach Team
Jim Hendren and Rebekah Clifton
Our vision is to be a church of irresistible influence on our neighborhood, community, and world by building bridges over troubled waters through showing the love of God in action. We just completed an outreach activity called Cover My Back. We provided back to school supplies and clothing for 19 children through the Salvation Army Homeless Center. We are in the planning stages of developing our Bridge Building efforts going forward. A spiritual bridge always involves a physical reality. We want people to physically experience the love of Christ for the hope of life change. Please contact Jim Hendren or Rebekah Clifton for more details: outreach@southbridgefellowship.com.
Technical Ministry
Dan Paschke
The Tech Team is gearing up and getting organized. We are in the process of defining the roles and responsibilities that make Sunday morning "technically" possible, as well as exploring other digital means to connect with our community. Currently, the Technical Ministry is responsible for setting up and tearing down the projector, lights, and CD duplication table. Also, our team mans the PowerPoint station, lighting control station, and CD distribution table. During the week, our team maintains the website and preps CDs for duplication the next Sunday. If you are technically inclined, have a desire to serve God "behind the scenes", or just have ideas of how we can better serve the congregation or community, we would love to hear from you: tech@southbridgefellowship.com.
Set up Team
Dave Lenhart
The set up team readies our facilities for worship. We arrive early on Sunday morning and place all our equipment and ministry items in their proper place for an exciting day of claiming Christ as Lord. This takes approximately 30 minutes before and 20 minutes after the service. We presently have 2 teams who do an exceptional job of ministry. As we move to two services, our desire and need is for 4 teams of 4 people who will rotate every other month. If you wish to join our team or for questions, please email us at: setup@southbridgefellowship.com.
Hospitality Team
Ron Sessoms
When Southbridge Fellowship first began meeting, the Hospitality team consisted of one person at the Connections Table and 2-3 greeters at the front door. We now have about 30 people on our team, with 13 serving each Sunday to greet, usher, provide information and nametags, and to serve coffee and refreshments.
We all remember the warm friendliness and clear expression of the love and joy of Jesus which first attracted us to Southbridge and we want to continue to extend that to each person who comes through our doors. As we move to 2 services, we will need at least 17 people each Sunday to continue serving at the present level. Future plans will be directed by our Lord and may include offering a full breakfast, providing valet parking for the elderly, handicapped, and mothers with young children, etc. Statistics show that first-time visitors usually decide whether they will return even before the service begins, so first impressions are important and our team is a key to that. We want each person who attends Southbridge to know how much they matter to God and to us. Please contact us at: hospitality@southbridgefellowship.com for further information or to join our growing team.
Southbridge Youth United
(6th-12th)
Jarrad Giles
This year Southbridge began Southbridge Student Ministries (6th-12th grade students) meeting every other Wednesday at various locations. We praise the Lord for volunteer leadership that came together to love and lead students. Students came together for fun and fellowship as well as prayer and the studying of God's word. If you have questions email us at: students@southbridgefellowship.com.
Men's Fraternity
Dan Paschke
This year, Southbridge is starting a ministry called Men's Fraternity that is geared towards helping men get a clear definition of Biblical manhood as demonstrated by Jesus Christ. This group will be meeting weekly through the school year on Thursday mornings at 6:00am at the Southbridge Office, 6300-124 Limousine Drive. Over the next year, Men's Fraternity plans to equip men to have a better understanding of themselves and their relationship with Jesus. Men's Fraternity will also focus on connecting men in solid relationships and how to win at home and in the work place. For more information, please email us at: mensfraternity@southbridgefellowship.com.
Missions Team
Judy Davison
The Missions Team is in the development stage. We have been gathering information about local ministries we wish to support. Through our Missions Support we intend to spread the gospel locally and worldwide all to the glory of our Savior Jesus Christ. To join our team, for suggestions, or for more information, please email us at: missions@southbridgefellowship.com.
"Discovering Southbridge" Team
Mark Scholl
The "connecting" team is a group that on a weekly basis collects and develops a list of the new guests that attend our service on Sunday. Along with this, prayer requests are collected and forwarded to the prayer team. At this time, a note is sent out by the pastor thanking them for their interest and inviting visitors back to attend. Subsequently, at the end of the month they are invited to a luncheon at a member's home for a meal and an opportunity to meet with Scott and Jason to learn more about Southbridge's basic principals. At that time, they are asked if they wish to be a larger part of the ministry and to fill out information sheets relaying their interests. The ultimate goal of this team is to connect people to Southbridge's vision and help them gain an understanding of what it means to be a part of this church. For more information, please contact us at: Anne Kinne.
Prayer Team
Danny Lotz
This team will be our lifeline. These prayer warriors will be praying for the people of the Raleigh-Durham area and the ministry of Southbridge on a daily basis. They will also be taking individual requests to the Lord on behalf of our congregation during the week, as well as meeting for prayer at 9:30 am before our 10:00 am worship service. If you are interested in being a part of this team, email us at: southbridge@southbridgefellowship.com.
